Whether you’re starting out in the industry or trying to build-up an existing real estate business, success is not much about luck but everything to do with smarts and effort. You need to be clear and focused on your vision – what success looks like for you. Then set some milestone goals and work towards them.
Here are some of our tried-and-true tips to achieving success, and profit.
1. Use your time doing what you do best
When businesses are in their infancy, owners can fall into the trap of wanting to ‘do it all’ themselves to avoid expenses.
However, chances are that it’s either listing and selling or people management that are your core skills ‒ focus on them. For the rest of the tasks that need doing – either find part-time help or outsource. These days there are also a lot of apps that can fill in the gaps in your skill-set and save time.
2. Know your stuff
As a real estate professional, it is crucial to ‘know your stuff’. Sure you know what’s going on property value wise in your area but it’s also important to understand social and demographic insights locally and more broadly. It’s this knowledge that will help you cement your place as an industry expert.
“Outwit, outplay, outlast (and out Post). All the top tier real estate coaches are saying Social Media is where property and personal brand marketing needs to focus.”
3. Work smarter than the others
Outwit, outplay, outlast (and out Post). All the top tier real estate coaches are all saying Social Media is where property and personal brand (agent) marketing is focused now and the trend is NOT going to go away. Get on it and don’t fall off! Ensure all agents in your business are the most visible ones in their area on Socials and watch your business take off.
4. Develop a fit mindset
Being a business owner can mean sleepless nights worrying about ‘stuff’. Mostly ‘stuff’ that never happens – the ‘what ifs’. Be sure you control your own internal dialogue. Make the effort to make your mindset super fit.
5. Love your CRM and work it hard
Relationships are key to growing a real estate business. If you’re good at what you do, then the more connections (genuine ones) you can make and maintain, the more successful your business will become. It’s simple maths. Learn to use your CRM like a ninja and never let a relationship slip.
6. Become a specialist
Yes you can sell anything but finding a niche in your local area and becoming the go-to person for that type of property can be powerful – particularly if your business is in a crowded marketplace. And it’ll help your personal brand marketing stand out.
7. Use a business model that fuels your growth
There are plenty of options when it comes to running your real estate business. Look for a brand that allows you the freedom to do it your way. And importantly, one that will allow you to grow without taking more of your income. A flat-fee model like ours will ensure your growth isn’t hampered by having to pay a ‘success tax’ to a head-office.
